Moussa Sissoko sends message of thanks to the Tottenham supporters

Arguably, no player in Tottenham’s recent history has managed to turn around his Spurs career to the degree which Moussa Sissoko has.

The midfielder came under heavy criticism from fans for his performances in his first two seasons at the club and became a somewhat of a scapegoat among the North London faithful.

However, he managed to transform his career by putting in amazing performances last season and became one of the team’s most important players.

He also became a real fan favourite with his name regularly being sung during both home and away games.

His performances were rewarded by the club when the Frenchman penned a new four year deal with the club last week (Sky Sports).

Spurs fans chanted his name on multiple occasions during the game against Southampton to mark their delight.

The 30-year-old revealed that he was happy to hear fans sing his name as it indicated they were pleased with what he is doing on the pitch.

Speaking to Football.London, Sissoko said: “Of course, it is always a good feeling when the fans are singing your name.

“That means they like you and appreciate what you are doing on the pitch. I was very happy with that and thanks to them for singing my name.

“It was a perfect way [to mark my new contract], and I am very happy. Hopefully, I can play well for this club and do what I can do.”

Sissoko’s performance against Southampton proved yet again how important he is to the team. He had to fill in at right back after Serge Aurier’s sending off in the first half and did a fantastic job stopping the visitors’ attacks down their left. His energy, power, and versatility makes him a fantastic option to have.
