Moussa Sissoko thinks one Spurs star is more ‘impressive’ than Harry Kane

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been speaking to Le Parisien about his former teammates Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris and compared the two players ahead of their meeting in the World Cup tonight.

England and France will battle it out for a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar this evening, with both Kane and Lloris captaining their respective nations.

Though they are both loyal servants to Spurs and obviously good friends throughout their time at the club, all that will be put to one side when they go head-to-head in the quarter-final clash.

Sissoko, now at Ligue 1 side Nantes, has played with both Kane and Lloris at Spurs, and also played alongside the latter during his time with the France squad. He is perfectly positioned to discuss the two stars, then.

While Kane and Lloris may play in entirely different positions, their influence for their respective national teams are huge. Ahead of the game, Sissoko was asked about to compare the two players.

He said: “They’re a bit similar. They’re two people who get on very well, who live well in a group. They’re rather reserved, discreet, but they are two great professionals who have a very, very good career.

“Hugo, through his performances for Tottenham, in France and through his titles. Harry Kane through his performances and the amount of goals he has scored. They’ve been together for ten years, in the same club. They’re with each other everyday, and know each other off by heart.”

When asked who is more impressive, Sissoko added: “It’s complicated because the two are fantastic, but maybe Hugo because he’s going to be on 143 caps. That shows he’s performed for years, that he’s had few injuries, been consistent and always at the top.”

Sissoko had praise for Kane too though, commenting: “What Harry is doing is magnificent too. We know his qualities. He’s very intelligent in front of goal, very capable.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s very hard to compare a goalkeeper and a striker, but if you look at their careers overall, Lloris has won the World Cup as France captain, which is huge. Kane on the other hand, will come away with more individual honours, and is arguably the one player you would want in your team, more so than Lloris.
