Mowbray not ruling out Keane extension

Tony Mowbray has not ruled out the possibility of Robbie Keane staying at Celtic beyond the end of the season.

Keane completed a suprise switch to Parkhead on transfer deadline day, joining on loan until the end of the season.

The Irishman has had a troubled spell at Tottenham since re-joining the club from Liverpool, with many reports claiming he is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane now.

Keane scored twice against Falkirk at the weekend, and manager Mowbray is leaving the door wide open for him to prolong his stay into next season.

“Getting him to extend his stay isn’t something that has crossed my mind. But we’ll wait and see. That’s not to say no.

“I don’t know what Robbie’s thoughts are on his football career. He’s a young guy still, he’s contracted to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League. I don’t know what he thinks about his future.

“In the short term, he’s here until the end of the season and hopefully he’s got a few more days like today, when he makes the difference.”
