Mowbray plays down Keane talk

Tony Mowbray has played down talk of a move for Robbie Keane, as he believes Celtic don’t have the finances to sanction such a deal.

Rumours had suggested Celtic would take Keane on loan for the rest of the season, with a view to a permanent deal.

Irish backer, Dermot Desmond would have had to dip into his pockets to finance such a deal, as he did for Roy Keane previously, but Mowbray still doesn’t think a deal will be struck.

“That’s out of my hands really. In the structure we have at the moment, there’s no scope for that.

Every football club has its own policies and I don’t envisage that happening. Unless certain individuals want to make that commitment.”
