Moyes lined up as Redknapp replacement?

Tottenham will target Everton boss David Moyes if they are forced to part company with manager Harry Redknapp in the summer.

That is what is being reported in the Sunday Mirror.  Redknapp goes on trial in July on charges of tax evasion dating from his time in charge of Portsmouth.

Redknapp and former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric, along with former chief executive Peter Storrie, will face charges at Southwark Crown Court in south London that Mandaric paid Redknapp £189,000 via a Monaco bank account.

Redknapp, who ended a second spell in charge of Portsmouth in 2008, is charged with two counts of cheating HMRC of an estimated £40,000.

The Spurs boss denies the allegations.

  1. Not a manager I would have thought to be connected with, if we finish in the top four again, me thinks that a dialog with Levy and Mouninho is not that far off a reality. He has said he would love a return to the PL and Spurs have the ambition and will to progress, anything else would be a disaster?

  2. Where did you get this piece of information from?

Did you just dream it up or did Daniel Levy confide in you for your advice on who he should bring in to replace Harry if he leaves Spurs?

  3. We're a top 4 team now and whenever Harry goes, we'll need a top 4 manager. No disrespect to Moyes, but he's nowhere near qualified for the Spurs job. When the time comes, the man for the job will be Jose Mourinho. He's always said his heart is in English football. He's the perfect man to take Spurs forward.

  4. Ray did you even bother to read more than the headline?

It was an article in the sunday mirror. Most likley complete bullshit but the poster is only asking what you think about the story not saying it’s going to happen.

  5. Moyes has to be some idiot journalists idea of a joke. IMHO he is in the same class as Hodgkinson: out of his depth totally in a CL class side. I would rather see Holloway or even one of he new “hot” Championship managers than Moyes. But I thin k that I know who it is that will come if we lose Harry and it aint Moyes..Thank God!!!

  6. If Harry leaves, then Owen Coyle is the best man for the job. Shrewd, encourages good attacking football and brings on young talent brilliantly.

Hopefully Harry won’t be off for a while but who knows.

Moyes is a very good manager, but I don’t want defensive football at Spurs, we can win with flair so hope that we stick to it.

  7. I have been told on very good authority that the person to take over from Harry is already at the club, if it happens that he gets the England job.

Personally, and only as part of the debate, I would like to see Ray Wilkins join the staff with a possibility of either taking over as manager or at least to assist. He people skills and obviously knowledge of the game are certainly being missed at Chelski.

  8. Tell the FA we want Capello if Harry is going the other way. His club record is awesome and might just have the tactical nous to take us to another level again. Good english and now knows the english game inside out. Less risk than an untried foreign manager.

  9. morinho would be first choice, he’s always been complimentary about spurs and levy is known to have a good relationship with him (we nearly got him before Jol i think) and would enjoy the challenge of creating history at the Lane/naming rights stadium. his ambitions would be matched by the club. and he’d love to go head to head against wenger. otherwise moyes? hmmm, he should have left everton years ago when he was on top, he comes accross as damaged goods now. in any case i’ll trust levy to make the right call.

  10. i work at the spurs and saw julian clary there the other day, we had a chat and he said if our arry goes hes gonna be manager with rodney trotter as captain and elton johns wife as head coach. personally i didnt like julos new colour scheme for next season . its exciting times mates, it almost makes you want arry to get nicked.
lets start a new campaign "FREE OUR aRRY"
DID YOU KNOW THAT URRY UP ARRY COME ON WAS BASED ON THE KNAPP?

  11. Mourinho is the only name that would suffice at this point. We have the ambition and the financial muscle, plus a chairman he could work with. If he is not offered the Man Utd job, which I think is the one he really covets, then we would stand a great chance. The idea of the job being offered to someone already at the club is pure fiction (remember the debacle of Tony Adams at Portsmouth after Harry left!!). We have a good bunch of assistant coaches (as was Adams) but that is all, no top flight managerial experience and Levy will certainly not offer the job to someone without the CV. To be fair to Moyes, he is a good manager and has done a decent job at Everton on a limited budget, but he is not the right man for the Spurs gig IMHO!

  12. The next manager of Tottenham should be Owen Coyle. He’s a bit special and fits with our philosophy of quality football and sportsmanship. He will do special things in the game. This is the man Bill Nic would want, not Mourinho. I also think he is brighter and better than Harry. There are no limits to what a fantastic manager who plays the right way can achieve. Look at Barcelona. Maureen could never create a team like that, and that is what we should all be aspiring to. Owen Coyle is our man.

  13. If Spurs lose Redknapp then the only option is a proven winner, we can’t have a manager coming in that has overachieved in the Premier League, if thats the case then we may as well get Holloway! Its got to be somebody of the pedigree of Mourinho that can continue the turn of a squad with massive potential into one that wins trophies. Only somebody of that stature would be able to convince the Modric’s and Bale’s of our squad that Spurs is the place where they can realise their ambitions. He isn’t the only one out there, but they are few and far between and I can’t actually think of anyone bar Jose or Guardiola that i’d really be happy with if it was to happen right now. Maybe Jol will come back…..

  14. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE NOT MOYES / COYLE / O`NEILL / WILKINS / SHERWOOD / HOUGHTON / CAPELLO / THERE IS ONLY ONE MAN FITTING THE CRITERIA FOR THE SPURS JOB AND THAT`S MOURINHO THE REST ARE JUST AVERAGE COACHES WHO WILL NEVER WIN NOTHING EVEN IF THEY WENT TO A BIG CLUB SO WAKE UP PEOPLE AND THINK BIG THINK MOURINHO HIS HEART IS IN LONDON AND HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN WANT AN ENGLISH EDUCATION PREFERABLY LONDON STYLE COYS ! ! !
