‘Mr Levy sort yourself’ – Some Spurs fans are fuming that club missed out on striker

Some Spurs fans on social media have expressed their frustration that the Lilywhites passed up on the opportunity to sign Callum Wilson, after the striker scored on his debut for Newcastle to give the Magpies a 2-0 win in their season opener against West Ham.

Newcastle paid £20million to snap up Wilson from Bournemouth last week and it was reported that although the former Cherries star was on Tottenham’s radar, the club decided that the Cherries’ asking price was excessive.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a handful of strikers from across Europe but Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that the club are not close to completing any deal as things stand.

Jose Mourinho did not have a striker to turn to on the bench as Tottenham fell to a 1-0 defeat in their season opener against Everton.

Some Spurs fans took to social media to question why the club decided against a move for Wilson and urged Daniel Levy to act quickly to sign a suitable back up to Harry Kane.

Spurs Web Opinion

Fans’ frustrations are understandable given that we could have used a more direct option to call on from the bench against Everton. So, it appears as if our lack of urgency in the transfer market has ended up costing us points once again.

However, we should reserve judgement until we see who we manage to sign this summer. Wilson would have certainly been a useful option for us but if we end up landing someone like Arkadiusz Milik, then I certainly will not be complaining.
