Multiple reports claim player will return to Tottenham in the summer

Multiple reports from Germany have now confirmed that Hoffenheim have no plans of extending Ryan Sessegnon’s stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

Sessegnon did not play as many games as he would have liked in his first season at Tottenham after arriving in a £25m deal from Fulham in the summer of 2019.

After snapping up Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid in the summer, Tottenham sent the teenager out on loan to Hoffenheim for the season and it has certainly proven to be the right decision so far.

While Reguilon has made a terrific start to life in North London, Sessegnon has also been getting some vital minutes under his belt in Germany and has won accolades for his displays.

According to Kicker (as relayed by Sport Witness), Hoffenheim signed the Tottenham man due to Konstantinos Stafylidis’s shoulder injury in September and do not plan on extending his stay beyond the end of the loan deal.

Fussball Transfers also reveal that the Bundesliga club have signed another left-back in David Raum, who will arrive from Greuther Fürth in the summer as Sessegnon’s replacement.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Hoffenheim are not interested in extending Sessegnon’s stay, I believe we should consider loaning him out somewhere else. Another year of regular football can certainly do wonders for his development and the 20-year-old is unlikely to get that at Spurs next season with Davies and Reguilon ahead of him in the pecking order.
