According to talkSPORT journalist, Alex Crook, Southampton have accepted a £25million offer from Everton for rumoured Spurs target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The former Bayern Munich player has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the past couple of months, with reports indicating that he was the North Londoners’ top midfield target this summer (Football Insider).
Previous reports claimed that Everton and Spurs were both in negotiations with the Saints for the 24-year-old (Sky Sports).
It was claimed that both Tottenham and Everton had fallen short of Southampton’s valuation of Hojbjerg but it was suggested that the midfielder preferred to complete a move to Jose Mourinho’s side this summer (The Southern Echo).
The Evening Standard meanwhile reported that Spurs had been asked to increase their offer for the midfielder or forget about signing him, as their offer fell well short of the one from the Toffees.

Multiple sources, including The Telegraph’s chief sports reporter, Jeremy Wilson, are now reporting that Hojbjerg is Everton bound after the offer from Carlo Ancelotti’s side was accepted by Southampton.
However, unlike Crook, Wilson claims that Spurs have also entered the bidding for Hojbjeg and could be set to match Everton’s offer.

Southampton have accepted £25m offer from Everton for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg…but Tottenham have also entered bidding today. Remains to be seen if they now match Everton offer. If not, Southampton very happy to get deal done with Everton

Spurs Web Opinion
£25m seems like a steep price in the current market for a player who only has one year left to run on his contract. If Jose Mourinho really is keen on Hojbjerg, then one would expect Spurs to match Everton’s offer.
I will not be as disappointed as some other Spurs fans if we do miss out on Hojbjerg as I am not convinced that he would be a sufficient upgrade on Harry Winks.
