Multiple reports claim Tottenham could make mega offer for Serie A striker

Multiple publications from Italy are now reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are set to launch an offensive for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Martinez wants to stay at Inter Milan, with his agent confirming the striker’s desire to remain at the San Siro.

However, despite this, it is said that Spurs are ready to test Inter’s resolve by launching a bid of around €90m (£77m) for the 24-year-old.

He explains that it will then be up to the Serie A club to decide whether they want to cash in on the Argentina international.

This information is also backed up by TuttoMercatoWeb, who state that although Inter are currently planning on selling Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar, their stance could change if a mammoth offer arrives from Spurs from Martinez.

The report claims that Spurs have been tracking the forward over the last few months and are expected to reach out to Inter next week to understand the feasibility of a potential transfer.

Antonio Conte is allegedly driving Tottenham’s interest in Martinez and the North London club are hoping that the arrival of Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku at Inter could convince the Serie A club to sacrifice the Argentine.

Spurs Web Opinion

I always had a sneaky feeling that Tottenham would make a move for Martinez this summer. Some might feel that spending big money on another forward would not make sense, given that we have Kane, Son and Kulusevski.

However, it is worth reiterating that five substitutions will be allowed in the Premier League next season. So, having a couple of world-class options to bring on from the bench will be a huge advantage.

If we do snap up Martinez in addition to the likes of Djed Spence, Christian Eriksen and a left centre-back, there is no doubt that Conte is going for the Premier League title next season.
