‘My agent is taking care’ – Spurs-linked defender speaks about his future

Rumoured Tottenham target, Alessandro Bastoni, has refused to divulge too many details about his contract situation, remarking that he is allowing his agent to sort out the details.

Bastoni is thought to be one of the names at the top of Spurs’ wishlist list for the summer (InterLive.it).

Tuttosport claimed last week that the 23-year-old’s future is up in the air as Inter’s contract negotiations with the player were not going as smoothly as anticipated.

The publication revealed that while Bastoni wants to remain at Inter, he could leave if the Nerazzurri do not offer him a contract that is in line with his value to the team, with the two parties said to be quite a distance away from reaching an agreement.

This information regarding the centre-back’s contract negotiations was also backed up by FC Inter News, who claimed a couple of days ago that Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City were also monitoring the situation.

Bastoni has now admitted that talks over a new deal are ‘ongoing’ while insisting that there are no problems in the negotiations.

He said (via Fabrizio Romano): “There is no issue or problem.

“We are in talks on new contract, my agent is taking care of that.

“My agent will discuss with the club as negotiations are ongoing.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think there is a good chance that Inter will fail to agree on a deal with Bastoni, just as they did with Skriniar, as several Premier League clubs and potentially PSG would be ready to offer the Italian a substantially higher salary.

However, there will likely be plenty of clubs who enter the race for the 23-year-old’s signature if he does not sign a new deal with Inter and I do not see Spurs being able to win the race for him, particularly now that Conte is no longer at the helm.
