Alejo Veliz has admitted that Real Madrid did show interest in him before he made the decision to move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
Spurs secured Veliz on the back of his stellar performances for Rosario Central in the Argentine top flight but the striker had to be content with few cameos off the bench during the first half of the campaign at the North London side.
The youngster will now be hoping to show his employers what he can do after completing a loan switch to Sevilla last month, with the 20-year-old making his debut for the La Liga side last week after recovering from injury.

Real Madrid were interested in Tottenham’s Alejo Veliz
Veliz could feature in a high-profile clash on Sunday, with Sevilla travelling to the Santiago Bernabeu to take on Real Madrid and ahead of the clash the striker discussed Los Blancos’ rumoured interest in him in the past.
When asked if Carlo Ancelotti’s men wanted to sign him, the on-loan Tottenham man told AS (as relayed by Sport Witness): “Yes, it appeared in the press and some time ago my agent told me about interest from Real Madrid, but nothing materialised.
“It was during the South American U20 Championship, I hadn’t been in the first team for long and I wanted to continue playing at Rosario. After the U20 World Cup, too. But I’m a calm guy, I take things patiently and I believe a lot in God, he focuses me on my path and he’s going to give me the best.”
Veliz also spoke about having visited the Andalusian city with Bryan Gil prior to his loan move and did not close the door on extending his loan spell at Sevilla beyond the summer.
The striker stated: “We came during a break. Tottenham gave us a weekend off, I was alone there and Bryan invited me to come. When the possibility came up, I didn’t even hesitate.”
“I don’t know what will happen (in the summer). If I stay, time will tell. To start with, Sevilla and their fans must be happy with me because I’m delighted to have come here and I hope that many good things will happen.”

If Veliz gets regular minutes at Seville and does well, there is perhaps a possibility that Tottenham would extend his loan spell. Having said that, it would perhaps make more sense for Spurs to loan him out to a Premier League side next season so the 20-year-old can adapt to English football.
