My best possible Tottenham XI for the start of next season

Tottenham Hotspur will surely be active in the transfer market this summer after enduring 16 months without a single signing.

The Champions League finalist status may also be enough to draw in some talented young players, along with the lure of Pochettino as a manager.

Spurs have already been linked to a number of stars this summer, but this would be my perfect starting XI for the new season:

Hugo Lloris starts in goal, as I believe he redeemed himself enough towards the end of last season to warrant another year as number one.

I have picked a familiar back four, with just one addition. Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, and Toby Alderweireld start, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka coming in to replace the out-of-form Trippier.

In midfield, Tanguy Ndombele comes in to partner Winks in what could be a formidable midfield pairing.

Son and Alli then line up behind Harry Kane as usual, with the minor addition of Leicester superstar James Maddison, who replaces the outgoing Christian Eriksen.

What do you think of this team?

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. I would be more than happy with this team for next season – Sess, Moura, Anderson, Sissoko, Foyth, Sanchez on the bench, would give our squad some real depth. Expect the youngsters – KWP, Skipp, Amos to figure throughout the season also

That lot would cost around the £200M mark, but would be paid for by – Trippier, Dier, Eriksen, Wanyama, Lamela all leaving.

Dele and Kane need to come back injury free and with their mojo back, looks good on paper tho, COYS!!!

  2. That would be outragously good, however would prefer to keep Eriksen, and I’d like to see Bale or Zaha in place of Son, who will be suspended for the first couple of games!

  3. I had a similar looking lineup when discussing with a friend the other day. However I prefer De Beek over James Maddison as I believe his potential is higher with Lo Celso replacing Winks in the midfield as we should have some money to spend after selling Eriksen and preferably Dier and Wanyama as well

    • I like Maddison, yeah he likes a dive, but Poch will coach that out of him. Look at his stats, he created the most chances in the PL last season, in a mid table team. Eriksen wasnt great last season, Maddison is also 22 and English meaning we can put another foreign player in the CL squad Betis looks like they are after silly money for Lo Celso, getting Ndombele in alongside Winks would be my priority. De Beek went missing in the Semi Final to be honest. If we can keep people fit this season, we can have a crack at the PL with this team
