‘My first time playing next to Danso’ – Radu Dragusin sends big Tottenham message

Radu Dragusin has opened up on what the feeling was like in the Tottenham dressing room after losing six straight matches.

Tottenham surprised everyone by delivering a battling display at Anfield and emerging with a point on Sunday, which means that they still sit a point above 18th-placed West Ham.

The players certainly responded after the debacle against Atletico Madrid last week, and Igor Tudor is hopeful that the draw against Liverpool will spark a turnaround from his side.

A Tottenham defender has now opened up on just how important Sunday’s result was in the Lilywhites’ quest to stay in the Premier League.

Radu Dragusin admits Tottenham players are ‘giving everything’

Dragusin started alongside Kevin Danso at the back for the away side, with Cristian Romero injured and Micky van de Ven suspended for the clash.

The Romanian admitted that it has been challenging for the squad to adapt to the demands of a new manager, but insisted that the players are giving everything to ensure the club gets out of this mess.

The former Genoa man said to BBC Match of the Day: “There is no easy points in the Premier League and today that is the case. Coming here away from home to Anfield, we knew it was going to be a more defensive game. We did well not to concede the second goal. We stood in the game, managed it well and the point is massive.

“We understood that we conceded a goal but there was nothing to lose. We kept working hard, kept running and kept believing until the end which gave us the result.

“Today was my first time playing next to Kevin [Danso]. We are a group of players who are giving everything, no matter if you play or don’t play, or for five minutes. From the youngest to the oldest, we want to keep fighting for this club.

“It’s difficult changing managers in the middle of the season, and it’s a different approach. Today we showed some progress because we were solid defensively and conceded very little even though Liverpool are a good attacking team. Every time I play, I want to show my worth by playing for this badge.

Dragusin admits Spurs missed this feeling

Tottenham have been spiralling from one crisis to the next all season and the players, at times, have appeared resigned to their fate.

Dragusin revealed that the confidence of the squad was low and confessed that he and his teammates desperately needed the result they got at Anfield.

The centre-back added: “It has been a tough few weeks and we have missed this feeling. We just need to keep building, we know we can do it. Confidence was pretty low in the last few weeks but today is a better feeling. Finally, we have something after a solid performance.”
