Some fans on social media were more than pleased to see Jose Mourinho rip into the Tottenham squad after a video emerged of one of the Spurs boss’ team talks from back in February.
Amazon Prime’s cameras have captured all that went on behind the scenes, during what has been an extremely disappointing but fairly eventful season for the Lilywhites.
Jose Mourinho has admitted to not being fan of the cameras capturing his every move since arriving at the club in November, but insisted that he tried to forget that they were there and operate normally (Football.London).
Based on the leaked footage of his team talk, it does not appear as if the Spurs boss has held back at all despite having the cameras on him.
In the video, the 57-year-old is seen telling his players that they are too nice and stresses the need for them to be “intelligent c*nts” on the pitch.
Some Spurs fans insisted that this was exactly the kind of tough love that the squad needed.
Here’s how fans reacted to Mourinho’s leaked team talk:
🇦🇷 Poch: "I want you to fight with pride, vigour, I want you to enjoy yourself, love the game, be one on the pitch. Let's play the beautiful game."
🇵🇹 Mourinho: “You can’t be nice. For 90 minutes you have to be a bunch of c****, intelligent c****, not stupid c****.”#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/WBmJkgO66L

Get. In. FINALLY. It’s the reason we get done in every Final/Semi. We’re busy playing football while the other team are trying to win the game at all costs. That CL final was a perfect example.

The ‘winning mentality’ crowd are loving this, not realising this is exactly what we were under Pochettino. I’d prefer to see what he’s coaching on the pitch and judge that part of being a coach https://t.co/J3TiTqoSK3

I have no problem with what Mourinho said but our dumb fans obviously had to infer that we were too nice under Poch and were all style no substance which couldn’t be further from the truth https://t.co/PFYwwRuqMx

Spurs Web Opinion
It is not as if we were not mentally tough as a team under Pochettino but I do think there is truth to Jose’s assertion about the players not being demanding enough of each other. Poch always seemed like the sort of character who did not like his authority to be questioned.
Jose, on the other hand, seems to demand that players are demanding of each other and air their disagreements. He has also been pretty clear that he wants players to challenge his ideas rather than passively accepting them.
Whatever one thinks of Jose’s tactical approach compared to Pochettino’s, the two certainly have different man-management styles. It can be argued that our squad needs a tough customer like Mourinho to help them become uncompromising.
