My new first choice to replace Eriksen at Tottenham this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly already bid for a new playmaker this summer, as the club submitted a £53m offer for Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso (BBC).

The offer was knocked back as is was nowhere near close enough to the Argentine’s £88m buyout clause.

While Lo Celso looks like a talented player and he would link up well with fellow Argentines Juan Foyth, Erik Lamela, Paulo Gazzaniga, and Mauricio Pochettino, I have a new favourite to join Spurs.

Having watched Dani Ceballos for the first few times this past week in the Euro U21 Championships, I am convinced that he is the man to fill Christian Eriksen’s boots if the Great Dane leaves.

Ceballos was a standout star as Spain lifted the trophy this summer, with his attacking flair, eye for goal, quick passing, control, and trickery on the ball. The Sun also now say that Tottenham are in pole position to sign the star.

Not only does he look impressive, but Madrid are said to want just £45m for him this transfer window, making him a cheaper option (Sun).

One report even states that Madrid may offer Ceballos plus cash for Eriksen this summer (Sun).

A fantastic young player and leftover cash to spend on a new right-back. I’m sold!
