Sunderland have become the latest club to be linked with a move for Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli.

The Belgian midfielder was last week mooted to be part of a swap deal to bring PSV’s Memphis Depay to White Hart Lane, although that rumour seems to have lost some traction.

Chadli joined Spurs last summer in a £7million deal but to date has failed to hold down a regular first-team place under both AVB and Tim Sherwood. Having been on World Cup duty, it remains to be seen if he has a future at the club under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Sunday People are also reporting that Sunderland are keen on Chadli, but are claiming that Gus Poyet wants the player on a season-long loan while Spurs would prefer to sell him outright.

Do you think Spurs should sell Chadli? Have your say below.

  1. No way. I think theres bags more to come from Chadli and he deserves a chance to show what he can do. Chadli at his best is a beast, if we can get a good season out of him, Eriksen and Lamela then we are virtually guaranteed Champions league, but from what I've seen of Chadli so far I think he would be a great fit for Pochettinos attack. He has skill, intelligence and physicality and can do wonders in space, which he should get more of in this new system.

All of Baldinis signings last year are the real deal. Paulinho is probably the most raw of them all but even he could shine with the right guidance.

Make no mistake, Spurs have a great team in the making at the minute but need one more superstar attacking mid/winger in the same mould as Eriksen or Lamela to really kick on.

    • So what do we do with Lennon and Townsend then, bearing in mind that Chadli had a far better season than both of them…

  2. I would keep Chadli over Lennon and Townsend any day. Give him the chance to prove himself. after all, we're doing that with everyone else who didn't have a great last season.
