Naive or what?

Having just returned from WHL, i am still angry and disappointed with how our ‘so called’ manager is bringing our club down.

Not only are we intent on selling our ‘best’ midfielder and our ‘best’ defender, in today’s match against West Brom, Andres Villas-Byeout makes the mistake a 4 year old would’nt make. On 74 minutes, we score a goal that should push us onwards and upwards. However, what does AVB. He takes off our leading goalscorer and puts on a ‘holding’ midfielder. There was still 16 minutes to play – plus added time – and instead of trying to add another goal or two to help our goal difference, AVB decides to try and ‘hold on’ to what we got. Unfortunately, Spurs have never been a side that could defend a lead well, even the greatest side in our history – the 61 double winning side – continued to let goals in. the difference was that we always tried to score more than the opposition and not hang on to what we had. I was aghast at AVB’s decision.

Season after season, the so called ‘top clubs’ have a far far greater Goal Difference than we do. Surely that must be saying something. They might let in goals as well, but they all seem to try and go on and get 2, 3, 4 or more.

If this is what we are going to have to put up with all season – AVB just wanting to hold on to a 1-0 – then we all might as well throw our season tickets away. It just wont be worth all our efforts.

We are already 5 points off the pace, and we are only two games into the season. I said before the season started that i think we would finish in 7th place this season and nothing yet has made me change my mind – apart from if Liverpool do a bit better and we could finish 8th.

AVB said in the national papers today “It’s 4th place or i’ll be a flop”. I suggest he is a Flop already and the sooner he goes and we get a manager in who knows what he is doing the better. I know people say we should give him time, but We Dont Have Time. Time is not on our side. Levy got us into this problem by signing him in the first place, so all in all it might be better if they both go and we start again before it’s too late.

  1. Are you f*cking high? You must be a complete idiot, that obviously knows NOTHING about football. That might be the worst 'article' I've ever read.

  2. Leading goalscorer? (1 goal, most would agree not a natural leader of the line, Sandro was off so makes sense to shore up the midfield).
Best defender? Dawson played 5 games last year, and again, most would agree he is slow as a tanker – not the kind of player to play with a high line (see Terry, John, last year under a similar system).
We are not 'intent' on selling our best midfielder – he has forced the issue. Levy has made it quite clear we would have liked to keep him but with his attitude we cant.
The 'Defensive' formation that we changed to is the same on we started with and the same one that we played under Harry.
It didnt work because our the defense hasnt played together enough yet and were all over the shop, and because we didnt have the option of parker off the bench (Jenas was awful). Be patient FFS.

#In short I really, really hope this is satire and Im just not getting it because otherwise you are a knee jerking moron.

  3. Completely agree – the ILWT brigade will all say that AVB was appointed by Levy to undertake a long-term project, so what the hell have ENIC/Levy been spending the last eleven years doing? Levy's just buying time before the eventual sale, though how much interest there'll be in a club with our recent track record is a big question.

  4. Is this piece tongue in cheek? because if not your a bloody moron of huge proportions. What a ridiculous comment two games in. Your a total embarrasment and I just hope other supporters dont associate the rest of us with a f**k wit like you.

  5. You are writing absolute nonsense. What would you have written if we had lost a goal because we committed to attack rather than shore up defensively? Probably the same nonsense. We should have won but the players missed the chances that came their way. Start all over again. You are a football ignoramus!

  6. What a dumb idiot you are. I just gave your site one chance now I'm blocking it in NewsNow. Suggest you do the same and finf another club to support.

  7. Get a grip. He hasn't had the luxury of being able to play Modric and there's very clearly a lack of depth in the squad considering Jenas was on the pitch. There are so many things to take into consideration in this situation, the main one being that we are all going to need patience and back the manager, I won't go into detail as it would clearly be a waste of time on you. For God's sake support the team and stop being a child. If you don't like how things are being run then I can think of another team down the road which you could go support. You seem to have the same mentality as their supporters so it would be a perfect fit.

    Just get a grip.

  8. What an utter tool.. Get a grip. The results have not reflected how well we have started considering. Individuals spurning chance after chance are to blame, not AVB.

We have to get behind Spurs, (players, MANAGER, and board) we will come good, and results will show it.

    Idiot.

  9. For goodness sake get real man, we are in fact a point better off. Some of you doom mongers need to give the guy a chance instead of getting on his back. When will you realise, Harry the market trader is gone, get over it. AVB will get this side playing the way we want. Trouble with a lot of Spurs fans is their memory retention span, we had a 13, yes THIRTEEN point lead over Arsenal with barely ten games left last season and we blew it with Redknapp at the helm, most fans wanted Redknapp gone then, well he's gone now and we move on. I have supported Spurs for 50 years and I have faith in what the board are trying to do. All i ask is that the doom mongers start to actually support the team and get behind them instead of slagging the manager off all the time!!

    • Totally agree, we have to give AVB time to mould the team that he wants and not the team he was left with. He is a good manager and I am very confident that he'll be a great manager at spurs.

  11. some i agree with (AVB not sure) and only time will tell !!!
but if i could change things in a hurry i would get rid of Mr Levy and write off this year unless a miracle happens the man will think of his pockets and not about winning.

Is that not what this is about? Winning ? maybe we should look at the Olympics winners on top and 4th place is a for losers NUFF Said

  12. What a pile of crap this post is.
Utd and the scum are past masters of this type of football and won many titles this way.
We all like the entertaining stuff, but sometimes you have to win ugly.
I wasn't sure about AvB at first, but i am sure when Parker and the new players turn up and we add to our attacking intent with the finishing of ady,,you will change your mind.

  13. Please do throw your season tickets away NOW! Because then I can move up the waiting list a lot quicker! And Spurs can get some positive support in the ground.

Let’s face it AVB was never going to be an overnight success but I am certain he can still get us into 4th this season!

The tactics worked in the first half, yes he made a mistake in the second half taking VDV off (should’ve been Livermore) but he WILL learn from mistakes and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Also give Levy until Friday night before slagging him off, he may well pull it off this window and I for one BELIEVE he WILL!

    cock.

  16. Oh, you are so right!

Let's sack the manager immediately and bring in another and sack him after another two games. And another and sack him after a couple more.

Then we could bring back 'Arry. Or Christian Gross.

  17. The number of negative replies to this article is encouraging. Still, the author is entitled to his obviously wrong opinions.

  18. After reading this article I can’t help but feel you need to pick up your toys and get them back in your pram. With the whole transfer of modric dragging its heels and our business typically dragging on to the end of the transfer window the only one who can be blamed for our results is levy. No manager can bring out a strong team without the team being settled for the start of the season. Lest we not forget the kickings we took under redknapp at the start of last season.

  19. My favourite part is in the sentence "Andres Villas-Byeout makes the mistake a 4 year old would’nt make". That's 'wouldn't', with a misplaced apostrophe in a sentence about silly mistakes. Delicious irony.

But seriously, this is littered with mistakes even a spell-checker would pick-up. You're entitled to your opinion, even if in *my* opinion you seem to represent the worst of the knee-jerk reaction fan brigade. However, if you're going to post an article online for hundreds of people to read, at least give it a proof read after you've written it. And capitalise the letter 'i' when referring to yourself.

As a riposte, here's an article I wrote on why we need to avoid this kind of reactionary approach to Villas-Boas: http://wp.me/p1L2BK-gf

  20. Lol Spurs fans so touchy. A fan criticises tge manager and everyone hoes mental. AVB is cak at Chelsea and done nothing at Spurs to show he is not cak. All you losers posting just to call the writer a c*ck should grow up and get a life. If Redknapp had put Jenas on and Spurs had let in a late goal in the same way all you lot would’ve slagged Redknapp off. Everyone knows it so don’t waste your time denying it.

All supporters outside Spurs are laughing their arses off at you lot right now. Sacking a succesfull manager and botching the Mod deal so you can get a replacement in to late under the unsuccesfull (in the prem) AVB is just hilarious. I’ll remind you all when you’re saying the same in a few months lol

  21. I agree that DL may be making mistakes in the transfer market, that it is costing us dearly, and that he needs a kick up the behind. However, by and large the team haven’t played badly. We do appear averse to the net but that will change. Ade will now be playing and when DL gets his finger out we will, I hope, have the Creative mastermind we are obviously lacking.

  22. I,m guessing you don't truly believe any of what you wright! You are just a shock-joc, looking to antagonize
for a response! If so! Well done! If not…….fool!

  23. He had just taken sandro off, didnt make sense having two up front. Lennon, bale, siggy and ade should have had enough to kill the game off. Pity it wasent huddlestone coming on instead of jenas, who was about as useful as a paper cup

  24. Nice rant you plonker. 2 games in and AVB is a ‘flop’. Also my dear friend, if your gonna throw your season ticket away, throw it in my direction. Us true spurs supporters would give our right bollock to be able to stand in white hart lane every other week.

Do you really think Levy would want Modric to stay after all the grief he’s put the club through? No one is bigger than the club, rat boy will be in for a shock when he’s not the golden boy at Madrid.

The football ‘fan’ is not a patient creature, but the loyal ones stick by the club whatever the situation. Hang your head in shame.

  25. I think most of the comments you received from your article sum up what I think – you either are a real chump or just wrote it to make a headline for your own satisfaction.

    Anyway it was rubbish

  26. the only mistake he made is thinking jenas will be doing anything he wanted when he came on, all the sub was right if you been watch the entire match and paid attention about player sta at those point of time.

  27. This guy is a BIG joke. CheekyCockney my FOOT. All that Spurs need is a prolific goal scorer and a creative midfielder. AVB has the potential, and I don't blame him for the slow start. The team is still gelling.

  28. years ago nearly all spurs supporters would haver agreed with this article now we have a collection of media mongers who know zero about football and have the cheek to query and complain bout an article that is exactly whats happening, good article, we have a no chance possibility of getting 4th. when we dont get there at the end of the year remember what you tools said.

  29. Well it's obvious I have ruffled a few feathers with my comments, what i would say is that if all those who 'disagree' with me are happy to watch what they are seeing, then thats fine. If this is what they want to see they are entitled to moan at me – because what i have seen so far is not acceptable to me. Saying that, i sincerely hope you all prove me wrong and that we finish top 4. unfortunately, i just can see that happening at the moment.

  30. Seriously, to all the people complaining about the article, can you really not see article is poking fun at all the doom merchants who are claiming the season is already over? Obviously it can be somewhat difficult to understand the tone of something when reading text, but this is article makes it very clear that the writer is mocking those "supporters" who have given up already on the team. The commenters who are aiming their vitriol at the writer claiming he is not a real supporter seemed to have totally missed that the guy has exactly the same opinion as them. Before you get angry, at least read the article and make sense of it rather than posting knee-jerk and reactionary comments (the very thing the writer is saying not to do). I don't usually post comments on blogs, but on this occasion, I have to stick up for the poor fella
