Napoli Sporting Director opens up on future of Arkadiusz Milik amidst Spurs rumours

Napoli Sporting Director, Cristiano Giuntoli, has admitted that rumoured Spurs target Arkadiusz Milik could be sold this summer.

It was claimed last month that Spurs are ‘pushing a lot’ to get a deal for the striker completed (Alfredo Pedulla via TuttoNapoli).

Other reports even suggested that the Lilywhites had made a player plus cash offer to Napoli in order to land the 26-year-old (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).

Tuttosport revealed last week that talks between Napoli and the Poland international’s representatives regarding a new contract had hit a dead end.

Giuntoli has now insisted that, while the Serie A club still want to keep Milik at the San Paolo Stadium, they are prepared to sell him if a new deal is not agreed.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia (as relayed by Football Italia), he said: “The desire is to renegotiate his contract, so we are talking with his agents.

“The objective is to resolve the situation, one way or another. If he doesn’t want to remain, then he will go on to the transfer market.

“Players can remain as long as they do so with the right mentality. Napoli will go forward, with or without Milik.”

Just like the links with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a move for Milik would make perfect sense for us as he fits the profile of what we need and is not likely to cost much due to his contract situation. However, the potential sticking point could be the fact that he 26-year-old might not want to come to Spurs and play second fiddle to Kane.
