The player in question is Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu, who although a left-back by trade, has been impressing further up the pitch this season.

The 20-year-old is quickly establishing a reputation as one of the best young footballers in Italy and an increasing number of clubs are now thought to be watching with keen interest.

It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are among the clubs who are at the front of the queue to sign Patrick Dorgu, who is also wanted by the likes of Chelsea, Napoli and Juventus.

Napoli ready to step up Patrick Dorgu pursuit

It has now been revealed by Gazzetta dello Sport that Antonio Conte’s men are keen on securing the wide-man and have now made him their priority target for January.

It is pointed out that Napoli are aware that the likes of Spurs and Chelsea are also after Dorgu and are thus ready to push ahead with an early move for him.

The outlet explains that Lecce want €40m (£33.2m) for the Denmark international but the Serie A league leaders are trying to close a deal for €30m (£25m) and would be willing to loan the player back to Lecce until the end of the campaign.

Interestingly, Gazzetta reveal that Spurs and Chelsea are not the only two English clubs eyeing Dorgu, with those clubs being joined in the race by London rivals West Ham.

In fact, the Hammers are said to be ‘working hard’ to secure the 20-year-old’s services in January as they want reinforcements on the left side of the pitch.

Additionally, the Lecce man is also thought to be of serious interest in RB Leipzig.
