Ndombele takes to social media to remind departed Spurs star of funny incident

Tanguy Ndombele has taken to social media to post a picture of Jan Vertonghen pulling down former Aston Villa striker Nicklas Helenius’ shorts seven years ago.

The incident occurred when Tottenham travelled to Villa Park for a League Cup Fourth Round clash in September 2013.

The North Londoners, who were managed by Andre-Villas Boas at the time, ended up 4-0 winners on the night but the result could have been different if Vertonghen had been punished for the funny incident in the first-half.

With Tottenham leading 1-0, courtesy of a Jermaine Defoe opener, Helenius went through on goal for what could have been a potential equaliser, before a scrambling Vertonghen pulled his shorts down.

Interestingly, Tottenham had a clash against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea after the win over Villa, a game which ended 1-1 after Diego Costa was sent off for an altercation with Vertonghen.

Mourinho complained in his post-match press conference that the Belgian centre-half should not have been allowed to play the game since he should have received his marching orders for pulling down Helenius’ shorts.

It is unclear whether Ndombele only just caught wind of the incident or just decided to give the recently departed Tottenham man a reminder of what he did seven years ago.
