‘Need to man up’ – Pundit sends scathing message to Spurs stars amidst Nuno reports

Paddy Kenny believes the current Tottenham squad have to take more responsibility in the dressing room following concerns over Nuno Espirito Santo’s style of management.

A source revealed to Football Insider that Nuno has ‘few allies’ in the Spurs dressing room, which has allegedly been the case since he arrived in North London during the summer.

The report added that the Portuguese coach’s approach to training and communication had left a host of the club’s stars unimpressed and somewhat divided.

However, Tottenham started well under Nuno and recorded three consecutive league wins to open the season, but followed that up by losing their next three.

Since then, Spurs have sought to stabilise their form and are in the process of doing so with wins against Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Kenny believes the players ‘need to man up’ and concentrate on their performances on the pitch instead of worrying about the manager’s style of coaching.

He told Football Insider: “We find this, don’t we? We find this at the clubs when you’re struggling. They had a great start, won three out of three 1-0 then lost three out of three 3-0. They won again the other weekend.

“You find that when you’re struggling, you hear these little stories coming out. Listen, the players need to man up, for me, and get on with their job.

“They’ve got a job to do at the end of the day and if they moan about their manager all the time, they’re not doing their own jobs properly.

“At the end of the day, you’re the one that goes on the pitch. You’re the one that crosses that line and puts your foot in there. You need to take more responsibility.

“He’s the manager of that club, he should be in control. The players need to look at themselves and get on with their own jobs.”

We won’t actually know what goes on behind the scenes, but the last couple of performances have been more positive and haven’t shown much unrest as alleged.

Nuno looks to be settling into the club and has beginning to implement his methods, so the players will just have to adapt to that.
