‘Needs to string 3 good games’ – Roberts responds to what he heard about Spurs star

Graham Roberts has rubbished suggestions that Tanguy Ndombele sees himself to be a level above Tottenham, insisting that the midfielder first has to deliver consistently for the North London club.

Ndombele was not included in the matchday squad for any of Tottenham’s first five games of the season after the midfielder allegedly informed Nuno Espirito Santo during the summer that he wished to leave the club.

However, Spurs could not move the midfielder on before the window slammed shut and sources have indicated that the 24-year-old is ready to fight for a place in the starting eleven after holding productive talks with Nuno and Fabio Paratici.

After being an unused substitute against Crystal Palace on Sunday, the midfielder was handed his first minutes of the season in the Europa Conference League clash against Rennes last night.

Ndombele was arguably Tottenham’s best player before he was replaced by Dele Alli in the 79th minute as the Lilywhites came away from France with a 2-2 draw.

Roberts has now taken to social media to suggest that the former Lyon man needs to string a few performances together before people get carried away with him.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am hoping that the fact that no European club were seemingly prepared to buy Ndombele this summer serves as a reality check for the midfielder.

Given the salary he is on at Tottenham, the only way the 24-year-old will be getting a move is if he performs consistently over a season.

So, if he wants to play for a Real Madrid, Barcelona or PSG, he will know that he needs to raise his standard of performance.
