Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday that Spurs were yet to enter negotiations for Juventus’ Paulo Dybala, before adding today that the Argentine has ‘never been an option’.
In a throwback to the 2019 transfer saga that ended with Spurs failing to finalise the transfer due to image rights complications (Football.London), Journalist Pedro Almeida dramatically claimed this week that Fabio Paratici had opened talks with Dybala.
La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Giovanni Albanese then added fuel to the fire, tweeting that the Argentinian wants to move to a club that will be playing Champions League football.
After Arsenal’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle United, Antonio Conte’s side found themselves in pole position to confirm a top-four finish as they conclude the season against Norwich City on Sunday afternoon (Premier League).
So, it may seem the perfect time for the 28-year-old to make the switch to N17.
However, Romano has downplayed the claims that Paratici has already ventured into contract negotiations with Dybala and has seemingly now shut down any possibility of a deal as things stand.
Tottenham have not opened talks to sign Paulo Dybala, as of today. There are no negotiations ongoing – ofc, the situation for Dybala’s future is still open as he’s available on a free transfer. ⚪️ #THFC
Antonio Conte will meet Tottenham board soon to discuss future plans.

Spurs Web Opinion
There won’t be many Spurs fans who wouldn’t gladly accept a player of Dybala’s quality being purchased this summer. He fits Conte’s demands of a ready-made player (The Mirror) and he would provide the perfect option to interchange with Dejan Kulusevski.
Further, as Romano states, he is leaving on a free transfer this summer and this would likely appease Daniel Levy.
