In a recent appearance on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, West Ham star Michail Antonio has predicted Mauricio Pochettino will be the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Tottenham are once again looking for a new manager after announcing Antonio Conte had parted ways with the club.

The Italian’s former assistant, Cristian Stellini, will be overseeing first-team affairs until the end of the season, with help from Ryan Mason.

It is thought Spurs chairman Daniel Levy already has a shortlist of potential new managers, including the likes of Julian Nagelsmann (Telegraph).

According to Dean Jones at GiveMeSport, there has already been ‘a few’ managers coming forward to express their interest in the role, too.

One name who has been repeatedly linked with a return to Tottenham is Pochettino, and the 51-year-old has been open about his desire to go back to the club (The Times).

The Argentine was sacked by Spurs in November 2019 but has retained a good relationship with the club since.

It is this relationship which leads Antonio to claim Pochettino will be back at Spurs come the summer.

He said: “I think Poch will be back.

“He has the connection with a lot of the players and he feels like he has something that is not finished at Spurs.

“I’m pretty sure it was always said he has somewhere in his heart for Spurs and he’ll come back, so you never know.”

Mauricio Pochettino would not be my first choice to take over at Spurs – that would be Julian Nagelsmann.

I wouldn’t be unhappy if Poch came back, and I can totally see why that decision would be made, given his affinity with Tottenham and the fact he is out of work right now.

I just hope we explore other options who can take the club forward instead.
