‘Never taken advantage’ – Thierry Henry takes swipe at Spurs amidst top four race

Thierry Henry has claimed that Tottenham have ‘never taken advantage’ when battling for a place in the Premier League top four.

Spurs lost ground in the race for the Champions League places last week after suffering defeats at home to Southampton and Wolves.

The poor displays have now pushed Spurs down to eighth-place and seven points off fourth, but they still have as many as three games in hand over some teams around them.

Sunday’s defeat to the Midlands outfit left head coach Antonio Conte claiming it would be ‘impossible’ to guide his side back to Europe’s elite competition based on current form (Sky Sports).

Arsenal star Henry has since taken a jibe at Spurs’ miserable week and claims it would be a failure if his former side, who did not feature this weekend, do not secure the final Champions League spot.

Henry told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (15/02/22, 7:20pm): “The best thing about Arsenal is that they didn’t play. West Ham didn’t take advantage of it. Tottenham has never taken advantage of it.

“But Arsenal had to go and win at Wolves. That was a massive win, so there are still a lot of games to go.

“For me, if they don’t do it, as I said at the start of the season, then it will be a failure.”

It was a bad week for Spurs as those were two games they really needed to win, but all is not lost just yet. Things do need to change for some good form to take place, but there are plenty of games remaining to mount a strong finish to the season.
