Neville makes Harry Kane comment that he admits might annoy some Spurs fans

Gary Neville has claimed that Harry Kane would make a great signing for Manchester United this summer while admitting that Tottenham fans might be annoyed with his comment.

There has been plenty of speculation over the last few years linking Kane with a move to United and this summer has been no different, with a potential £200 million transfer being touted (Daily Mail).

However, reports have indicated that Spurs have no intention of letting their star striker leave (Telegraph), with Jose Mourinho also admitting that he has received assurances that all of his important players will stay at the club.

There were a few suggestions in the press that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side could rekindle their interest in Kane after their attempts to sign Jadon Sancho seemed to hit a dead-end (Football.London).

While discussing transfer targets for the Red Devils this summer, Neville named Kane as someone who could potentially be available and help improve Solksjaer’s squad.

Neville wrote in his Sky Sports column: “It could be any number of players that become available that would improve United. If Harry Kane became available, and Tottenham fans will be saying why are you trying to get him out of Spurs again, but if he became available, he’d obviously improve United’s squad. So it doesn’t have to be a certain player.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The arrogance of United fans to assume that Kane would want to move to Old Trafford never ceases to amaze me. I am under no illusions that the 27-year-old is going to stay with us for his entire career but it is clear that he loves Spurs. So, if he is going to leave, it will be to a club where he is guaranteed to win the major honours and that would be the likes of Manchester City, PSG or potentially even Real Madrid (a year or two down the line). United at the moment are as far away from that elite level as we are and a move there would not really make much sense for Kane.
