Micky van de Ven has reflected on the big moves Tottenham Hotspur have made this summer and has outlined what the club’s ambitions are next season.

Spurs came close to disaster last season, with the Lilywhites managing to avoid relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the campaign.

It was an extremely stressful time for the Tottenham supporters and the players, who were staring at the possibility of going down for the first time in nearly 50 years.

However, that major scare seems to have woken the club into action, with Spurs breaking their transfer record twice and shattering their wage ceiling this summer.

Micky van de Ven excited by Tottenham’s ‘unbelievable’ signings

After back-to-back 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League over the last two seasons, Van de Ven is delighted to see the club show big ambition in the transfer market.

The centre-back admitted that seeing the club land the likes of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali has lifted the mood of the squad, describing the newcomers as ‘unbelievable’ signings.

Van de Ven said (via Football.London): “It’s really good that you can see the club has made some changes. They have brought a really good new manager, in my opinion, and some really good new signings. You can see the club has new ambition.

“It’s something that’s really important for players that have been there for a long time. Some really good signings for us. Unbelievable players that can bring a lot to our team.”

Van de Ven reveals Spurs will be aiming high next season

Speaking last week, De Zerbi said that Tottenham want to compete for the top of the Premier League, which is the kind of ambition that the supporters wanted to hear.

Van de Ven has now insisted that the club of Spurs’ size cannot be out of Europe, admitting that they aim to get back to the top end of the table next season.

When asked about Tottenham’s goals for next season, the Dutchman said: “Spurs is a team that needs to play Europe every year, so obviously the European spots are something we are going to aim for. The most important thing is we play our football, and that we are a difficult team to play against.

“Personally, I just want to stay fit all season, play a lot of games and be important for the team. Let’s see where it will end.”
