New Arsenal signing once revealed he was hopeful of joining Spurs

Arsenal completed the signing of Matt Ryan last week, with the experienced goalkeeper joining the club on loan until the end of the season.

With Ryan’s contract at Brighton running out in 2022, he will be hoping to make a permanent switch to the Emirates when his loan spell finishes with Seagulls boss Graham Potter having demoted him as first choice (Sky Sports).

The 28-year-old will likely serve as Bernd Leno’s main back up with Runar Runarsson havung failed to impress during his time at Arsenal so far.

The Australian has admitted that he grew up supporting the Gunners and that it is an honour to pull on the club’s colours.

However, Ryan’s previous tweets about Tottenham might not go down well with Arsenal fans.

It turns out that the on-loan Brighton man had a trial with the Gunner’s North London rivals when he was playing for Australian outfit Central Coast Mariners in 2012.

The goalkeeper also referred to Tottenham as a ‘great club’ on social media and admitted that he was hopeful about signing for the Lilywhites.
