New contract talks reportedly stall with key Spurs man

A report by The Times claims new contract talks between Christian Eriksen’s agent and Tottenham have apparently stalled.

Eriksen’s current deal expires in the summer of 2020, meaning that he has under two years left on the contract.

If Tottenham fail to tie him down to a new deal by the end of the season, they will face a similar situation to the one they currently have with Alderweireld.

They would have to decide whether to sell Eriksen for a reduced fee or to keep him and let his contract run down before letting him go on a free.

The Times report says that the negotiations for a new deal are at an impasse.

It puts this down to a variety of factors, including wages, the manager’s future, transfer budgets, silverware, and Champions League qualification.

Tottenham fans will be desperate for their club to give the Great Dane wage parity with the likes of Kane and Lloris to keep him at the club for the long term.
