New opening date reported for Spurs stadium

Tottenham Hotspur have been stuck at Wembley for around 18 months now, but it will seem like decades for fans waiting for the new stadium.

The original opening date for their state-of-the-art new ground was September 15 for a showdown against Liverpool.

However, issues with the fire safety systems put an end to this dream.

There may finally be some good news on the horizon for fans though, as The Sun report that Tottenham are confident a critical safety audit will be complete in the next two weeks.

This would pave the way for a long-awaited opening early in the new year.

The Sun have earmarked January 13 against Manchester United as a date Tottenham hope to open the new stadium on.

If this is true, it could be a great occasion for the first game, and how poetic that the fixture game at White Hart Lane will be the same as the first at the new ground.
