‘New rounds of talks’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Spurs and Pedro Porro

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to hold a fresh round of talks with Sporting Lisbon regarding a deal for Pedro Porro this week.

Based on the various updates that have emerged over the last couple of weeks regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Porro, it seemed like the negotiations between the North London club and Sporting had hit a roadblock.

Multiple publications explained that the Portuguese club wanted the right-back’s £40m release clause to be met while Spurs were not willing to pay that amount (AS).

FC Inter News then reported on Sunday that amidst the deadlock in their negotiations for Porro, the Lilywhites could turn their attentions to Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, who was said to be the second name on Antonio Conte’s and Fabio Partici’s wishlist.

The report asserted that the Dutchman’s agent was in London and that he could be set for talks with the Tottenham hierarchy regarding a transfer.

However, Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Conte’s men have not given up on their pursuit of Porro just yet. Here’s what the journalist tweeted about Spurs’ attempts to sign the Spaniard:

It seems like a game of cat and mouse between Sporting and Spurs to see who will blink first. The Portuguese clubs seemingly leaked reports about Chelsea’s interest in Porro to put pressure on Spurs while the North London club look like they have potentially opened dialogue with Dumfries’ representatives to get Sporting to soften their stance on the 23-year-old.
