Thomas Frank has now hailed Ange Postecoglou’s impact at Tottenham, declaring that he is ‘going in on the foundation’ the Australian built during his time in charge.
Tottenham Hotspur have a new head coach in their dugout for next season, after Spurs decided to sack Ange Postecoglou, following his poor Premier League season, when the Lilywhites finished in 17th place in the table
Regardless, the Australian did give Tottenham some of its most cherished memories in living memory, after he guided them to their first-ever piece of silverware in the last 17 years, winning the Europa League and delivering on his second-season trophy promise.
Following his sacking, a new era at Spurs has since begun, with Tottenham confirming the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new head coach ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Thomas Frank thanks Ange Postecoglou
Of course, for Thomas Frank, this is a major step up in his career, as he is set to manage one of the traditional big six clubs in the Premier League for the first time.
Daniel Levy insisted he is convinced Frank is the man to take them forward, after he emerged as their number one choice among 30 other candidates.
Tottenham can call themselves champions of European, something that would not have been possible if not for Ange Postecoglou. Thomas Frank, in his first interview as Tottenham manager, has now given the Australian his flowers.
The former Brentford boss was quick to congratulate Postecoglou, stating that he is a Tottenham legend and that he is humbled to take over from him.
However, he made it clear that the club must remain ambitious and take it one step further, becoming serial winners.
Frank told the club’s official site: “Congratulations to Ange, he will forever be a legend in Tottenham, and congratulations to him for that. I think it is very important to understand that we all stand on the shoulders of others.
“So I am going in on the foundation that Ange built and his coaching staff, and I am very humble about that, and I will do my very best to continue the great work he put in.
“The feeling and the excitement and the joy and the happiness you can see in the fans’ faces and the pictures you saw was wow.
“Hopefully, we can create more of those moments, that will be the ultimate dream to do that and build on that, and they, you know, hey, no one can say they are not winners. The team and the players are winners. Now we need to do our best, we need to become serial winners in the future.”
Thomas Frank set for first test as Spurs chase more silverware
Indeed, Thomas Frank will not have to wait long before competing for his first piece of silverware, as Tottenham are set to play in the UEFA Super Cup, thanks to their Europa League triumph last season.
An in-form Paris Saint-Germain side awaits the Lilywhites in Udine, Italy, on Wednesday 13 August, in what would be Frank’s toughest competitive clash as Spurs manager.
However, if Tottenham are to become serial winners like their head coach said in the interview, these are the sort of games they will have to win.
With the manager’s interview now done, attention would turn to on-the-pitch matters, as Spurs begin preparations for the 2025/26 season.
