Newcastle assistant tells club to sign 23-year-old Spurs player

The Athletic have reported that Newcastle United assistant manager, Graeme Jones, has urged the club to sign Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer.

The report claims that Newcastle are interested in signing Kristoffer Ajer but are also looking for alternatives, with Carter-Vickers falling under that bracket.

It is said that Jones, who previously worked as an assistant at Bournemouth while Carter-Vickers was on loan there, has recommended the USA international to Steve Bruce.

Jones also used to manage Luton Town, where Carter-Vickers enjoyed a very successful loan spell under him during the 2019/20 season.

The American centre-back has been consistently loaned out over the past three years and has struggled for opportunities in and around the Tottenham first-team.

The Athletic add that Carter-Vickers would be tempted by a Premier League move despite mainly operating in the Championship during his loan moves, and he would also like to link up with Jones again.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I am sure that Spurs will let Carter-Vickers go this summer no matter what. Let’s hope he gets a Premier League move as he has always seemed like a good lad and a competent defender.
