Newcastle player sends message to Harry Kane after injury update

Former Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has wished Harry Kane a speedy recovery after the striker posted an update on his rehabilitation on Monday.

Kane has been out of action since New Year’s Day after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 defeat to Southampton.

With Son Heung-min also joining the England captain on the treatment table last month, Tottenham have struggled to score goals and have suffered a horrific run of form in the last few weeks.

To make matter worse, January signing Steven Bergwijn, who was being used as a makeshift striker, has also been sidelined for a considerable period after picking up an ankle problem in the loss at Burnley.

Kane offered Spurs fans some hope by posting a video on Monday of him continuing his rehabilitation on the pitch.

Bentaleb, who played with Kane in the Spurs academy ranks as well as the first team before being sold to Schalke in the summer of 2015, took to social media to send the following message to his former teammate:

Let’s just hope that both Kane and the Spurs medical staff have learned their lessons from the last two years about the perils of rushing the striker back too quickly. While the coaching staff will surely be tempted to throw him in as soon as he is ready given our current predicament, it would make sense to exercise caution and ease him in slowly.
