Newcastle ready for Spurs test

White Hart Lane - Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Newcastle assistant manager John Carver has insisted that they are viewing the visit of Spurs this weekend as just another game.

High flying Nwewcastle are unbeaten in their opening seven Premier League matches and insist they will be focused on the match rather than the reputation of Spurs.

“People are talking about the game on Sunday being our biggest test,” Carver told the Gazette.

“But I keep saying to the lads ‘every game you play is the biggest test’ – it’s always the next game.

“No matter whether you play the top or the bottom sides in the Premier League, there are no easy games.

“I’ve heard people say ‘the Spurs game will see where we are’. Well, we’ve already shown where we are at the moment.”

“It’s all about us, really, and after two weeks with a break, we’re just looking forward to getting back out there,” he added.

“Four of the last five games have been away from home, and it’s a home game for us.

“It’s good to be back at home and have two home games. We have to take that advantage, and get the points on the board.

“We know it won’t be easy, but they’ve had players travelling all over the world, as we have.

“It’s set up for an exciting and entertaining game.”
