Gareth Bale has signalled the importance of Tottenham starting the Premier League campaign well when we face Newcastle in the opening game.
Spurs fans will fill themselves with hope that the Welsh wing wizard will still be in a lilywhite shirt come the August 18th and theat whoever comes in to replace Redknapp can persuade Bale that he can do without Champions League football for yet another season.
A lot of speculation about Bale’s future will fill the papers in the upcoming weeks, along with the likes of Luka Modric too. It’s essential that Levy can keep the core of the team together if we are going to challenge for the top four again.
“It will be difficult, especially away from home, but it’s a good early test for us.”
He added: “Newcastle had a fine season. No-one really expected them to be right up there and maintain it throughout the season.
“They all worked hard, they worked together and that counts a lot in football,” he continued. “They’ve some great players and it will be a case of keeping those players quiet and trying to impose our game plan.”
