Newport County manager Mike Flynn praised counterpart Mauricio Pochettino after his League 2 battlers pushed us to an FA Cup fourth-round replay.
Irishman Padraig Amond gave Flynn’s outfit a deserved lead at Rodney Park as the hosts took advantage of our lacklustre efforts.
However the introduction of the in-form Heung-min Son turned the game in our favour, as the South Korean deftly flicked on Kieran Trippier’s corner for Harry Kane to tap home a close-range tap-in eight minutes from time for a 1-1 draw.
An article in The London Evening Standard says Flynn was full of praise for Pochettino during his post-match press conference, with the two teams set to meet again at Wembley.
“Speaking to Mauricio before the game was a real eye-opener for me, he’s a real class act,” Flynn told reporters.”If Wembley is like the second half here I won’t relish it! I can’t speak highly enough of my players but we’ve come up against a class team and a class manager. He was so accommodating and complimentary.”
Flynn was then asked what Pochettino said to him, and the 37-year old added: “He said we’ll treat this exactly the same as any other game. He’s a class operator and he wants to do the best for his club. Mauricio Pochettino showing Michael Flynn respect is no bad thing.”
