‘Nice to see’ – Pundit backs Harry Kane’s rumoured stance on Mourinho

Gabriel Agbonlahor has stated that Harry Kane is right to back Jose Mourinho amidst suggestions that the Spurs boss still has the striker’s full support.

Pressure has been mounting on Mourinho as a result of Tottenham’s poor run of form over recent weeks. Spurs have now dropped down to the ninth place in the Premier League table, with North London rivals Arsenal breathing down their necks.

It has been reported that Kane has fully backed Mourinho when Daniel Levy asked the star-striker about the mood within the camp, with the England captain said to believe that the Portuguese coach’s methods can spearhead a revival at the club.

Agbonlahor admitted that the 58-year-old needs the support of his key players at this difficult time but claimed that Tottenham may have little choice but to sack the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss at the end of the season if results do not improve.

The former Aston Villa striker told Football Insider: “I think sometimes managers need that from the players and sometimes players need that from the manager.

“Often a player will go through a run of bad form and the manager backs them.

“So I think it’s nice to see from Harry Kane because we know Mourinho’s under pressure.

“There are good names being floated but it depends on how this season goes.

“If it’s really poor then maybe that’s something they have to look at in the summer in terms of Mourinho’s future and the sack.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that Kane has backed Mourinho as the 27-year-old has arguably benefited the most since the Portuguese coach’s arrival, with respect to how his personal game has evolved.

Despite the recent poor run of form, it is evident that Jose has not lost the dressing room yet. However, the next month or so will be extremely crucial as the players might get disillusioned at Mourinho’s methods if the results do not turn around quickly.
