‘No brainer’ – Pundit urges Spurs to re-sign former star on a free transfer

Jamie O’Hara has urged Tottenham to bring Christian Eriksen back to the club, now that the Dane is available on a free transfer.

Eriksen reached an agreement with Inter Milan to terminate his contract last month and is currently training at Swiss club Chiasso.

The former Tottenham man has not played competitively since suffering a cardiac arrest in Denmark’s Euro 2020 clash with Finland last summer.

Reports have indicated that the 29-year-old is hoping to be training with a top-flight club this month, with clubs from England, Netherlands and Denmark showing interest in snapping him up as a free agent.

In a television interview earlier this month, Eriksen thanked the fans for the messages of support he got during his recovery.

The former Spurs man also expressed his determination to be involved in Denmark’s squad for the Qatar World Cup.

O’Hara believes that signing Eriksen would be a no-brainer for Tottenham as long as the midfielder is fully fit.

The former Tottenham midfielder talkSPORT’s Sports Bar (12/01/22 from 22:00 onwards): “I know he (Eriksen) left and went to Inter Milan and he had that terrible situation at the Euros, but he’s back fit – he’s allowed on a free.

“It’s a no brainer to try and get him on a free – as long as everything is okay with him; I think it is.”

Spurs Web Opinion

As much as I would love to see Eriksen back at Spurs, I suspect that the club would not be willing to take a risk on the 29-year-old even if he passes all the medical tests. I expect the midfielder to sign for a Danish or a Dutch club rather than return to the Premier League.
