‘No’ – Club board member rules out move for Tottenham player this summer

Former Bayern Munich president and current board member, Uli Hoeness, has admitted that the Bundesliga giants are after a number nine this summer but ruled out a move for Harry Kane.

Since it became public on Sunday that Karim Benzema would be exiting Real Madrid, the speculation linking Harry Kane with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu has gone into hyperdrive.

Marca claimed yesterday that Madrid have identified the Tottenham man as their top target to replace the Frenchman and are convinced that the England captain can hit the ground running in the Spanish capital, and could still have around four seasons ‘at the elite level’.

The publication further added that Kane is open to joining Los Blancos and that Daniel Levy is open to a sale as long as it is not to a Premier League rival.

Meanwhile, German journalist Christian Falk had told CaughOffside last week that Bayern have not yet given up hope of winning the race for the Spurs star.

However, when asked if the Bavarians could sign Kane this summer, Hoeness has now told BuliNews: “No. But it’s clear that we are looking for a number 9. A number 9 is essential in football.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Kane would have ever seriously considered a switch to Bayern.

While the chance to join Real Madrid would be more tempting to the striker, I am not convinced that he would want to leave the Premier League this summer.

I suspect that the striker’s preference would be to enter the final year of his contract with Tottenham and leave on a free next summer if the club do not show signs of improvement next season.
