‘No decision will be made’ – Romano makes claim about Spurs summer plans

While discussing Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Mainz midfielder, Anton Stach, Fabrizio Romano asserted that the North London club will not finalise their summer transfer targets until the start of April, at the earliest.

Stanch has established himself as one of the most consistent defensive midfielders in the Bundesliga since his switch to Mainz in the summer of 2021.

The 24-year-old was capped twice by Germany in 2022 and it has emerged that his performances have not gone unnoticed by Premier League clubs.

90 min reported last week that scouts from Tottenham have travelled to the Mewa Arena this season to run the rule over the midfielder.

The publication explained that Spurs were not alone in their interest in Stanch, with Liverpool, Newcastle United and West Ham United also said to be monitoring the player’s development.

However, Romano has now said that he has not heard about Tottenham’s or Liverpool’s interest in the Mainz star.

The journalist told CaughtOffside: “Anton Stach is impressing with Mainz and we’re now seeing transfer rumours about a big move to the Premier League.

“He’s a good player with value close to €18-20m, but at the moment honestly I’m not aware of his name in the list of Tottenham and Liverpool.

“No decision will be made by Tottenham on summer targets in February or March.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Romano’s revelation on Tottenham not making a decision until the end of March about their transfer targets is quite interesting.

That might be down to uncertainty surrounding Antonio Conte’s future as well as the verdict of the appeal with respect to Fabio Paratici’s ban.
