The vast majority of Tottenham Hotspur fans went into yesterday’s match against Newcastle United expecting a home win to continue the club’s unbeaten start to the new season.
The reality is that Tottenham looked toothless and did not deserve anything from the match at the new stadium which is far from the fortress we would have hoped when we said a tearful goodbye to White Hart Lane.
A defensive lapse from Davinson Sanchez and Danny Rose proved costly when they gave Newcastle striker Joelinton the freedom of N17 to score his first goal for the Magpies.
In attack, Spurs had no clue of how to try and unlock the Newcastle defence and the decision to leave Christian Eriksen on the bench until the 62nd minute backfired on Mauricio Pochettino.
