‘No glory in that failure’ – Spurs legend reveals team he wants Mourinho to play

Micky Hazard has blasted Tottenham’s performance in their 1-0 defeat to Brighton on Sunday, admitting that the way the away side approached the game was not in keeping with the club’s traditions.

Tottenham were non-existent as an attacking force in the first half and were lucky to be only 1-0 down at half-time with the home side fashioning a number of chances.

While Spurs did commit bodies forward after the interval, they did not look like breaking Brighton down despite huffing and puffing.

Robert Sanchez had a quiet game between the sticks from Graham Potter’s side and was not called into action apart from the one save he pulled off on his near post from Carlos Vinicius’ attempt.

Hazard admitted to being speechless after the North Londoners’ toothless display and pointed out the team is not living up to the legendary Bill Nicholson’s ethos of there being echoes of glory even in failure.

The former Spurs midfielder also admitted that he wanted to see Mourinho employ a 4-3-3 and for Dele Alli to be brought back into the team.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not see Jose bringing Dele Alli back into the fold despite us struggling to create any opportunities of note in the three halves of football we have had without Kane so far. However, what was clear in the second half against Brighton is that we were much more of a threat with a focal point like Vinicius upfront and so I expect the Brazilian to start against Chelsea on Thursday.
