No instant success from stadium move insists Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has warned the clubs fans that the club’s new stadium will not bring them the instant wealth to compete with their rivals.

We need seven points from our remaining 4 games to secure Champions League football for a third successive season with three of our final four games at Wembley, starting Monday night.

“It is a new era,’:he said. ‘We are moving to a different venue and you have to know the expectations because it won’t change everything and rain millions of pounds.”

Pochettino has three years left on his current deal and according to ESPN he rejected the idea of asking to extend his contract.
He said: ‘I am never going to ask to improve my salary or extend my contract. I decide only the starting XI, I am not Wenger or Ferguson who decide their own future.’

Pochettino also said he believed his Spurs “project” was ahead of schedule despite not winning a trophy in four years at the club.
Pochettino said: ‘In my first meeting with (chairman) Daniel Levy, the target was to arrive in the new stadium and create a team to fight for the top four and play Champions League.

He added: “The easy thing to do is to give up and say we need to change everything but, no, we must keep going, pushing hard and try again.’

We are two points ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea ahead of Mondays muse win Watford clash after the Blues’ win at Swansea on Saturday.
