‘No manager in his right mind’- Pundit makes claim on Conte and Paratici talks

Danny Mills has claimed that Antonio Conte will have held concrete talks with Tottenham regarding transfer targets before agreeing to become the club’s next head coach.

Since Conte’s appointment, there have been plenty of reports regarding the players the Italian allegedly wants to bring in to Spurs in January.

Some publications have claimed that the 52-year-old is set to be handed a sizeable war chest by the North London club.

Calciomercato.it even claimed the former Inter boss made specific requests in terms of transfer targets, including the likes of Marcelo Brozovic, Stefan de Vrij, and Alessio Romagnoli.

In addition, Conte has also allegedly been assured by the Spurs hierarchy of their plans to try and snap up Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic while the Italian is also thought to be keen on signing AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

Despite the speculation linking the North London club with a whole host of players since Conte’s appointment, Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici has insisted that transfer targets have not been discussed.

When asked about Paratici’s revelation, Mills confidently asserted that Conte would have made clear demands to the Spurs hierarchy ahead of signing.

The former Leeds defender told Football Insider: “They must have had [transfer] chats, they must have had talks about what is next, what comes next.

“No manager in his right mind would surely go into the job without talking about potential transfer targets and how much money is going to be available.

“I’d be very, very surprised if they hadn’t had those conversations. They might not admit it publicly, but I would be incredibly surprised if they hadn’t had those discussions.”

Conte would have obviously sought some assurances and promises from Paratici regarding transfers before signing on the dotted line.

However, Paratici obviously cannot admit that publicly as he would be making life harder for Spurs in the transfer market by opening up on a transfer war chest or specific targets.
