‘No need for a player like Eriksen at Inter’ – Luis Suarez blasts ex-Spurs playmaker

Inter Milan legend, Luis Suarez, has blasted former Tottenham midfielder, Christian Eriksen, insisting that the Serie A giants made a mistake in bringing him to the San Siro.

Eriksen hasn’t made the perfect start to life at Inter since swapping North London for Milan in January. He has largely had to make do with a bit-part role under Antonio Conte and is yet to make the kind of impact we saw during his peak years at Tottenham.

The midfielder has even been on the receiving end of some fairly harsh criticism since joining the Italian club.

After Inter’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus last month, Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) questioned the midfielder’s positioning and labelled him a ‘mysterious object’ for how little he has shown since joining the club.

Former Inter defender, Fulvio Collovati, also questioned the Denmark international’s lack of pace and described him as a ‘difficult player’ (Tuttomercatoweb).

Now Suarez has asserted that there is no place for a player like Eriksen at Inter.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb (as translated by Sport Witness), Suarez said: “He lacks character and aggression. There is no need for a player of this kind at Inter. I hope to be wrong, but so far he has disappointed many Nerazzurri fans.”

Eriksen’s form was shocking during his last year or so at Spurs and it is unsurprising that he hasn’t hit the ground running in Italy. While he would have hoped that a change of scenery would have helped him get back to his best, we have seen time and again how players struggle to return to their previous level once they drop off for a bit.
