‘No offer’ – Premier League manager reveals Spurs-linked forward wants to leave

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed Tottenham-linked forward Anthony Martial wants to leave the club.

The 26-year-old has struggled to cement a place in the Red Devils’ starting line-up this term, making just two starts in the Premier League and scoring on one occasion.

The £73 million acquisition of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund has also dented Martial’s chances of playing regular football, with the 21-year-old now pushing him further down the pecking order.

It was said that Martial was keen to leave in the summer with Tottenham allegedly holding a firm interest, but a move failed to materialise.

United interim boss Rangnick has since reiterated Frenchman’s desire to seek an exit from Old Trafford, but confirmed no offers have been received for his services as of yet.

In a press conference, he said (via BBC Sport): “He explained to me that he’s been at Manchester United now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else. I think in a way it is understandable.

“I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club. We have Covid times, we have three competitions in which we have high ambitions and want to be as successful as we can be.

“So far, as far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and as long as this is the case he will stay.”

An exit from Man Utd seems pretty likely for Martial at this rate, but with all things considered, he is not a Spurs-type player or a forward that Antonio Conte would warm to. He definitely is talented, but his expensive wages and on-pitch work rate both come into question.
