‘No official offer’ – Sporting director admits Spurs-linked star has admirers

Bari sporting director Ciro Polito has insisted that the club have not received any official offer for rumoured Tottenham target Walid Cheddira.

Cheddira has been a bit of a journeyman in his career so far but Bari took up the option to sign him permanently in the summer on the back of his season-long loan spell at the club in 2021-22.

The centre-forward has exploded this season, having notched up eight goals and five assists in Serie B to go with another five goals in just three Copa Italia matches so far (Transfermarkt).

Serie B News claimed a few days ago that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have their eyes on Cheddira. The report explained that Spurs could face plenty of competition for Moroccan, who was also said to be of interest to several top-flight Italian clubs.

It was explained that the 24-year-old was valued at €15m (£12.9m) by Bari, who were thought to be open to cashing in on the player in January.

However, Polito has now refuted that claim, insisting that the Serie B club do not plan on parting ways with Cheddira.

The Bari sporting director told Cusano Italia TV (as relayed by CalcioMercato): “There has been no official offer for Cheddira. Obviously, he is a player (with admirers). But, for now, we keep him tight.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Spurs are likely to be after a centre-forward in January as Ricahrlison is quite capable of covering for Harry Kane. I expect us to be in the market for a winger to replace Bryan Gil, who will likely be loaned out when the transfer window reopens.
