‘No one told us anything’ – Lautaro Martinez’s agent opens up on his future

Lautaro Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano has revealed the Argentine is happy at Inter Milan but admitted that a transfer cannot be completely ruled out this summer.

Over the last few weeks, plenty of reports have discussed Tottenham’s pursuit of Alessandro Bastoni.

Although Bastoni’s agent has said that the centre-back will be staying at Inter Milan (Football Italia), some publications indicate that Spurs have not yet given up hope of snapping up the 23-year-old (CalcioMercatoWeb.it).

Spurs are also said to have their eye on Bastoni’s Inter teammate Martinez, with Alfredo Pedulla reporting this week that Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the forward at Spurs.

The journalist added that while the Nerazzurri will look to resist advancements from Tottenham for the 24-year-old but he remarked that the Simone Inzaghi’s side are also tempted to try and bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club.

Meanwhile, The Athletic claimed last week that Inter would have to cash in on one of Bastoni or Martinez this summer due to their perilous financial situation.

Martinez’s agent has now stated that, as things stand, his client is not even considering a move but he did add that the situation could change later in the window.

Camano told FcInterNews: “Right now, we are enjoying a very good year for Lauti. From the football point of view, but also from that of personal life and stability.

“We are feeling the affection of the people of Milan, also because he recently started a project with Agustina in the city [the Coraje restaurant].

“Of course, his profession as a footballer predominates, but to date, I have no reason to think there is even a chance that he will leave Inter.

“No one told us anything, the truth is that a player who scores so many goals in a complicated league one does not go unnoticed, but there is still a four-year contract. He is fine, he is happy, he enjoys the team, the club, his teammates.

“There are no reasons to leave. We know what professional football is like, today I am affirming this and tomorrow everything can change. But today the situation is the one I have just described.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Camano’s words suggest that a transfer this summer is pretty unlikely for Martinez. Much like Bastoni, it sounds like the forward is desperate to stay at the San Siro. So, as things stand, it seems like Perisic might be the only player to jump ship from Inter to Spurs this summer.

However, if a lucrative market opportunity were to open up for Inter later in the window (Lukaku, Bremer etc), the Serie A club will perhaps reconsider their stance. The question for Spurs and Conte is whether they want to sign a player who does not really want a move, particularly after the way Lukaku’s move to Chelsea has turned out.
