‘No question about it’ – West Ham star gives verdict on Tottenham’s title hopes

West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is convinced that Tottenham Hotspur have a chance of winning the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham currently sit fifth in the table, two points off top spot but they could have been at the top of the pack already had they not thrown away four points at home against Newcastle and West Ham.

While a controversial late penalty decision prevented them from beating the Magpies, the 3-3 draw against the Hammers exposed a lot more chinks in the Tottenham’s armour.

Jose Mourinho’s side were 3-0 up and seemingly cruising going into the final ten minutes of the game but a late capitulation saw them grab a draw from the jaws of victory.

However, Antonio claimed he saw enough from the Lilywhites in the first half of the game to suggest that they will be title contenders and insisted that the North Londoners were the best team David Moyes’ side have come up against so far this campaign.

When asked if Tottenham are in the title race, the 30-year-old told ITV’s Football Show Podcast (as relayed by Football.London): “No question about it.

“No-one has started the season like them. It’s whether they can keep the consistency. The number of goals they have got. The teams they have played.

“Even the three goals against us in the 16 minutes, it was like, they are prolific. If they can continue doing that then, out of all the teams we have played, I don’t see anyone as close as Tottenham so far.”
